‘Can’t Stop the Havelots’ - lyrically, is a reaction to the rampant corruption, avarice and greed in society, a plea for greater understanding of one another regardless of social strata and a reprioritization of what’s truly meaningful, & fulfilling in life.

Musically, I wanted to make a ‘rump shaker’. It is Beck-informed in its folk-rock/hip-hop balance, Led Zeppelins ‘South Bound Suarez’ and Q Tip’s track ‘Breath & Stop’ influenced the rhythm.

‘Can’t Stop the Havelot’s’ was the track that took the longest time to come together out of all the tracks on the album. It was the tune chosen to use as an educational device in bettering in my productions skills. So as a result, a lot of time was spent on exploring different sonic options / techniques. In addition, I was venturing into newer sonic landscapes, using both programmed beats with acoustic live performance drums.
Adrian Popovich (mixer) tamed this songs 100 + tracks – it’s a beast that bangs.
